50 years ago humans made it to the moon and back. This was a historical project fueled by enthusiasm, courage, willingness, science and other good human trades. It influenced people of many generations all over the world to see that humans are capable of making historical achievements over short period of time. Of course it wasn’t an easy task, as JFK said in his Moon speech, “We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win”. This decision made it possible to send humans to the moon and back within a decade and it was a historical decision of courage.
Today we have an even bigger challenge, which is a challenge for humanity to endure the climate crisis and we have to make a decision to fight back and have the willingness to be on the winning team once more. We are not going to make this decision because it’s easy, but because it’s necessary for human kind and because the goal will serve the best of humanity and because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our human trades. It’s a challenge that we humans need to be willing to accept, a challenge that we are not going to postpone, and one which we intend to win. It’s a challenge and we have to make a decision to face the challenge.
This decision would be one small step for humanity, one giant leap of courage for humankind. So let’s do it, let’s make the decision and show our willingness to save ourselves by making the right choice, it’s the only way towards more certain and sustainable future for humankind.
